These irons are really quite old. I have had them since the 1970's. They are great decorative items or even door stops. Some people paint them!
They both open. They were used to put hot coals in. There are two of these larger size.
I also have 2 other irons that are smaller that were used to put on top of the fire. They are quite heavy. Great for door stops also. No picture now.
