Pit Bull Terrier - Barney - Large - Adult - Male - Dog
Barney is a special dog that needs a special human in his life. This former stray has had a life of upheaval since he was first rescued. After it was determined that Barney might be a bit dominant, he was sent to a kennel reputed as being expert in training dogs like him, but it turned out to be a nightmare with deplorable conditions that lasted for three months until the ‘rescue’ was shut down.
Barney loves people and his tail is always wagging and he is always smiling! One of his favorite things is to turn over on his back and get lots of belly rubs! Barney doesn’t get along with all dogs; he prefers mild-mannered females. He does have a tendency to guard his food from other dogs, so he’ll need to be fed separately. Barney is a friendly, outgoing and obedient dog who loves to please you. He is adaptable and trainable, having trained with a professional, and knows the commands sit, fetch, down/off, come, lay down and go down. Barney is a loving dog who adores being around people; however, they need to understand his needs. He is intelligent and needs mental stimulation. Barney has most recently lived with a human that worked all day, and he was fine with being home alone. He really prefers a calm environment where he can chill out and relax. He shouldn’t go to a home with small children, cats or other male dogs. Barney needs love, understanding and a human that is prepared to be the boss—in a kind way, of course.
